"Christian Indian Church"?

That just sounds very odd to me.

Almost looks like a cement tee-pee.

I guess greeneyezz has never been to St. Labre. Maybe you oughta put it's name up there, instead of "Christian Indian Church". Am I correct in remembering that the stones used on the exterior are from the area? It seems like it, to me.

You know, I remember driving thru the stretch from Hardin to Broadus one night at about 1:00 AM. It was sooooo black and on the car radio, the best reception I could get had old reruns of "The Shadow" playing. It was really spooky and one of my fondest memories of trips thru that area.
I also like that one building on the north side of the highway, in Ashland, where they have the front painted to look like an old saloon/bordello. It's really got atmosphere.

Hey Chief! I was just lazy and didn't look up the name of the church as I was having a brain fart. I do mention the church in my Day 14 journal entry (website included).

And... a very comprehensive and interesting entry it is... to be sure; makes me wish I was there. I had hoped to go again, this year. I have not yet seen the new Indian monument at the battle site.

Yep, it's supposed to represent a tipi and the Catholic influence as being united. I like it, but I've always felt that the whole missionary thing: Catholic or otherwise... played a large part in messing up the heritage and religious beliefs of the natives in America and all over the uncivilized world. We bring "civilization", but at such a high price. (sigh)
