Yeah, we’re definitely east of the Mississippi River now. More and more traffic speeding down the road. Drivers were less courteous. Dealing with traffic conditions such as those don’t really phase me, but I’m sure some of the more novice people were pretty nervous. The terrain and the roads themselves also reminded me of home. No more long stretches of straight and flat highways. The roads were starting to be more varied in terrain and had more curves in them.

We actually went though some pretty decent sized cities today. The cities of Pekin and Bloomington (the home of Beer Nuts) are fairly large especially when compared to all of the other podunk towns we passed through. Another characteristic of these cities is they seemed more industrial looking. Bloomington seemed to be a nice “modern” city. Jim and I stopped at a nice place in Bloomington for lunch, and then we were back on the road. Got to our final destination midafternoon and chilled out for the rest of the day. On to yet another state tomorrow – Indiana.
