Election 2008

. Saturday, October 21, 2006

Regular visitors to my blog might have picked up on the fact that I was supporting former Virginia governor (D) Mark Warner for president in 2008. It's been a couple weeks now, but I'm still really disappointed that he dropped out of the race (even though technically he was never running). He seemed to do a great job here in Virginia. He seemed to be the best alternative to Hillary Clinton.

I don't know what it is about Hillary but I JUST DON'T LIKE HER - and I'm a Democrat for crying out loud. I voted for her husband twice and I thought he did a pretty good job. It has nothing to do with the fact that she's a woman. I would more likely support Jennifer Granholm for president (Democratic governor of Michigan), but she can't run for president because she was born in Canada. Even if Hillary would be a great president, her supporters have to realize that SHE'S NOT ELECTABLE!!! You thought the George Bush has polarized this country? HAAA! Hillary Clinton is a very polarizing figure. People with LOVE her or HATE her. There's no middle ground. This country desperately needs a leader that will UNITE this country. Can anyone honestly say that Hillary is this person?

Warner was an ideal candidate for me because he was the anti-Hillary. He's a BLUE governnor from a RED state. He has a record of working well with the Republicans and getting things done. He's conservative enough on some important issues (abortion, gay marriage, gun control) that he would appeal to Republicans but liberal enough on other issues (education, environment) to appeal to Democrats.

I'm not sure who I want to support now. I voted for Kerry in the last election but I don't know if he's really the best choice. I might be interested in learning more about Joe Biden although I'm not 100% certain about his plans for running. And...GASP... I might also be interested in learning more about John McCain.

Anyway, it'll be interesting to see how things pan out in the midterm elections.

Boo! (How appropriate at this time of the year...)

Two Things:

First... I am hypnotized by your rotating photo album. That... is one of the coolest things I've come across! I am happy to see that the engineering degree has paid off!

Second... I would probably vote for old Hillary, myself, depending on whom else is running. It's not so much that I am a real fan of hers, as I am curious to see if a woman (any woman) can really do a better job for us. And, there is always the chance that she might wanna ask one of us up to the Lincoln bedroom for a midnight smoke....

Two Things:

First: Every once in a while, I get board and check out some other people's blogs that I don't normally check. On occasion, they've got some pretty neat thing that I'd like to copy for my blog. If you goto Picturetrail.com and sign up (it's free), you can upload pictures into an album. They have all kinds of neat effects to choose from. I happened to choose the carousel. From there, it's just a simple cut and paste of the the HTML into my template and BLAMO!

Second: Another part of my dislike of Hillary is the whole carpetbagging thing. I was still living in NY when she first ran for Senate. I didn't like her taking advantage of Moynahan's retirement for what was obviously (even back in 2000(?) that the sole purpose of her becoming a senator from NY was as a platform to one day run for president. I realizee that many other politicians do the same thing but for some reason it still rubs me the wrong way.
